Denne ukens League of Legends-intervju falt på den ukjente, men rimelig gode spilleren Cruzerthebruzer. Han har lenge vært kjent for sine videoer på YouTube, og flere av klippene har vært inkludert i Protatomonster's Top 5 Plays of the Week. Her kan dere se hva han mente om dagens League of Legends.
Hi there Cruzer, you can start by telling us a bit about yourself. Who is this mysterious guy who's been seen at youtube, known for his insane lee-sin playing?
My name is Cruz and I'm a full time student at a small state school. I'm 22 years old and am currently getting my undergraduate degree in Biology in hopes to eventually apply for Medical School. I'm supported by my parents while I go to school and supplemented by income from streaming and my videos.
Riot decided to split EU into two parts some time ago, what do you think about this? In which way does this affect the competitive play between the top teams in Europe? What do you think about the skill-level in EU-West vs. EU-Nordic & East? Any special differences here?
Honestly, I don't know enough about either server to make much of a comment. It seems like EU-West has more of the 'well-known' players though. I don't really know the reasons for the split, I'm assuming too much traffic into one server or latency issues, but I think it's negative for the competitive nature of the game if there was not any overlying problems. If we could all play on the same server with the same latency and the same FPS, that would be ideal for the competitiveness of the game because you know you're playing with the best.
You got a high ELO without no doubt, but we haven't seen you on any big events or online cups. Why is that?
I try to stay focused in school and get what I need to do done. I feel like if I could fully commit to this game during school days I would be able to take it further; however, I don't like missing class time to travel or play in the tournaments. I have considered taking a lighter load this semester and possibly joining a team, but I don't know if that's going to happen.
Season 2 started couple months ago, what do you think about the ELO soft-reset? Riot introduced Dominion as well some time ago, success or total failure? Do you think "capture-the-flag"-modes will be a hit when it comes to RTS-games like League of Legends?
The Elo reset was handled incredibly poorly. I remember playing pre-preseason 2 for 12-15 games, and there was a brief period where if you played those games, you wouldn't get initial elo boosts. Instead of starting with +/- 40 Elo per game I was getting +/- 20 which I think shouldn't have happened. That being said, I don't think the boost should occur on your first 20-30 games or whatever it is, just because you can get unlucky/lucky and be placed in a place where you don't belong, and be stuck there for awhile. The soft-elo reset was as pretty much a hard-elo reset just by it's sheer magnitude.
I think that capture-the-flag mode would be fun depending on how they put it in, it would be nice if it forced constant team fights.
Do you have any special plans for Season 2? Any tournaments, events or cups of some kind?
Like I said earlier, I doubt it, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. My character tends to be someone who works really hard at whatever it is I'm doing. I doubt I would join a team if my time and schedule didn't allow me to become one of the best teams in the game unless the team is there purely for giggles. I wouldn't feel good about people working their butts off if I wasn't able to.
What do you think about the LoL-community in general? The forum offers a great form for discussion, but do you find anything essential missing when it comes to the community?
I feel like the community definitely has it's ups and downs. Information is easy to get to and some people are willing to help out. Unfortunately a lot of people rage a lot, troll a lot, and are usually ungrateful. I think this is largely due to the people that are being looked up to. A lot of high-elo players are unforgiving rage-heads who need to step back and realize how negatively they are acting as well as the way they are portraying themselves. It's a game, it's supposed to be fun. Winning is fun of course, but don't jeopardize your character to make someone feel bad when there's absolutely no need to.
The ungratefulness comment sprouts from Riot constantly catering to people's needs and people only wanting more. Riot gives you free stuff, be happy, don't demand more, and don't freak out when things don't go the exact way you want them to.
I think a lot of the popular streamers need to realize the influence they're having on the community and fix their attitudes and become a positive influence rather than a negative one. I understand that sometimes people get frustrated, but a lot of people are incredibly rude and unhappy the instant something minor happens and immediately lash out, and I feel that is unacceptable.
That's pretty much it, and I have to let you go. Any last words for the fans and readers out there?
To all those people looking to gain Elo and stuff, make sure all your criticisms of your teammates if there are any are constructive. Don't let people get to you and try to limit your frustrations. Sometimes you're gonna lose the game and it's not gonna be your fault, but you need to realize that you probably didn't play 100%, as no one ever does. Look at your mistakes, fix them, and become a better player.

Vi takker Cruz for hans tid, og leter alltid etter flere å intervjue! Hvilke LoL-spillere kunne du tenke deg å se et intervju av?
